No, I'm not joking. I was out for a drive in the C4 when I realize my gas meter is reading lower than a 30 year old gas meter safely should. So I pull over to a gas station and try my debit card, which was declined somehow. So I go in the convenience mart to see if it will work there, and after it doesn't pay the $10 I had in my wallet and I drop everything on the floor. I apologize to the person behind me for taking up their time, and she puts $20 in my hand. I really do try to tell her I can get home on the $10 but after 5 minutes of trying to give her my info to pay her back/a gift car I have, I express my gratitude and fill up. Then a 95 year old woman starts screaming at me for taking the money and being irresponsible, despite the fact I tried to do everything I could to NOT take the money, and even blocks me when I try to pull away. Some old man was angry with her for being mean to him so he screams at her and she leaves. Never thought that would happen to me, there are some really nice people out there.

There are some good people out there. Sadly, there are a few jerks too.

Screw that old lady. My family was at Costco a few years ago, and a Costco employee came up and handed me a $100 bill saying that another customer saw me drop it. I most certainly didn't drop a C note. I asked who gave it to him and he wouldn't tell me. I believe we were the recipients of some (extreme) random generosity. Maybe a Good Samaritan saw my wife and me wrangling three young boys and took pity on us. Maybe they do this regularly. Who knows. I tried to refuse the money, but the employee was adamant that I keep it. So a random stranger paid for my trip to Costco and I had no way to thank them.

When people are being generous, it is, of course, polite to refuse. But if you make too big of a scene out of it you risk insulting the person being generous. We shouldn't discourage people from being helpful, and that old lady can blow it out her a**.

Not sure if extreme generosity, or misguided drug deal payment.

(Joking, of course)

That's a great story! Yeah, the old lady had definitely lost it so I honestly felt bad for her. She was in her 90s and obviously had a different lease on life. I felt bad at first for taking someone else's 20 bucks (if only because of the surprise) but the world would be a better place if more people were like that, and it feels good being on the giving end and I now have another reason to help out the next person I can.

I was Costco enjoying dinner when an tire center employee came over to me and gave me keys to a Volvo, saying my car was ready to go. I had to tell him twice that it wasn't my car...

lol, it pretty funny... I was just looking at your headline in the feed, and I read it a little differently this time. To paraphrase how I read it... "a stranger gave me $20 to shut the hell up and stop being so damn mean."
